Today (Feb. 13) marks the 29th year since one of Sri Lanka's most flamboyant young businessmen Upali Wijewardena went missing while returning from Kuala Lumpur to Colombo in his private jet .All on board the Lear jet were never found. They included his Commercial Director Peli Muhandiram.The several companies he owned in Sri Lanka including Ceylon Chocolates makers of 'Kandos' and Upali Newspapers publishers of The Island are conducting relgious and donations programmes today to mark the event including one at the historic Kelaniya Buddhist Temple where 1ijewardena, then 43 was the chief trustee.Wijewardena was in the limelight at the time of the incident back in 1983 as he has made his poitical ambitions known.ENDS
